IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS) Health provides powerful insights into asset reliability by calculating Health Scores. But the efficiency of these scores depends heavily on the contributors and formulas. Formulas relies on the data you maintain in Maximo.

What Are Health Contributors?

Health contributors are formulas configured in Maximo that evaluate asset condition. Each contributor looks at a specific set of data fields (e.g., asset age, maintenance history, meter readings, failure records) and calculates a weighted value that rolls up into the overall Health Score.

Why Data Quality Is Critical?

If the required data is incomplete or inconsistent, the contributor formula won’t reflect the real asset condition, leading to misleading Health Scores. This makes it critical for users to know which data points they need to maintain properly.

Key Data Inputs for Contributors:

To get the most from Health scoring, here are some examples of critical data points:

Asset Master Data - installation date, expected life, manufacturer, priority, year to date cost, budgeted cost. Work Orders - Failure class, downtime, repair costs, maintenance type. Meters & Measurements - Runtime hours, pressure, temperature, vibration. Failure Data - Breakdown codes, repeat failures, MTBF-related values. Inspections & Condition Monitoring - recorded observations, pass/fail results.

Contributor, Formula and Maximo Data:

In the below section, we will review some of the contributors and Maximo data set that is critical

Contributor Description Maximo Data Set
RUL The remaining percentage of the asset's useful life. The remaining useful life (RUL) is calculated by subtracting the age from the manufacturer’s expected life. Installation Date (Asset)
OPENCMWO Sum of the priorities of all the work orders that are reported in past five years. Priority (Work Order)
PRIORITY Priority Priority (Asset)

Takeaway:

For Maximo Health to deliver accurate and actionable scores, ensure that your team consistently maintains the required data. The better the data, the more reliable the contributor and the more confident you can be in your asset health scoring.
